Authenticity - Storytelling is often reduced to doing dramatic read-alouds or getting one video viral. Surely, there’s more to it. Storytelling requires becoming the person we want to speak as - it’s a slow and transformative process. It begins with re-discovering and rebuilding who we are and the kind of stories we want in the world. The course initiates and guides this authentic ‘self work’ from week 1.
It's a gym, not a spa - This course is not designed for quick fix tricks or buying storytelling certification as a social media flex. It’s a gym, not a spa - it challenges one’s comfort zone and expands it slowly with practice. The course is experiential - one learns by doing.
The activities in the sessions are complemented with application them in the real world.
Our fee is game changer - Storytelling courses in India with comparable length and expertise cost between 24k to 1.44 Lakh. However, we want learners from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to become storytellers. So, we keep our fee affordable (Rs 3000-12000) and flexible based on one’s paying capacity and purpose.
Pay what you may - Learners select their fee level when they apply. Does it work? Absolutely. It gets us the people who get us. We also help people who might be new to this fee model to help them understand. We have been able to run 15 batches with 400+ learners and we have seen more generosity than cheating on learners’ part. Every 1 in 8 learners even ends up paying more after the course as a gift to new learners. We are proud of this giving culture in our learners community.
PhD in Storytelling - ankit, the facilitator has a PhD in storytelling and a childlike passion for stories. He has taken professional training in storytelling (England) and in Design Thinking & Game Design (MIT, US). He has 12+ years of experience in facilitating groups using drama, art therapy and storytelling across India, UK and US.
Content is researched - not random - The course has emerged from an action research work with teachers in India. The curriculum and pedagogy is rooted in Indian and indigenous knowledge traditions and cultural practices. It has been thoroughly researched and reiterated based on the experience of facilitating 100+ similar workshops virtually, and across geographies.
Taught Live - Storytelling is a social skill - it requires one to listen and speak to other humans. Despite 1000's of online self-learning courses, most people need a mentor and other learners to learn. We keep our workshops live, lively, fantasy filled and fun. No recorded videos.
Learning is great, but practice is better
Most learning experiences end once the classes stop. After the courses, participants often find themselves isolated and unable to sustain practice. We prioritise building routine, repertoire, and a community to continue storytelling practice beyond the course.
