Kahaani Gaon

A village of storytellers, growing together

Kahaani Gaon is a collective of people from all walks of life who love stories.

Kahaani Gaon has 200+ storytellers from India, Europe, US and South East Asia. The charm of the collective lies in its diversity - there are storytellers, school leaders, teachers from pre-primary to university levels, homeschooling parents, social entrepreneurs, artists, doctors, academicians, civil servants, lawyers, small business owners, and artisans.

A common ground connecting the villagers has been the experience of learning storytelling together with ankit.

As the storytelling courses (Teachers Telling Tales) progressed, one season after another, the learners began feeling a strong sense of belonging. They shared stories, fears and moments of vulnerabilities together. After the courses got over, many learners chose to stay connected and kept coming back to gatherings. Learners from the past came to meet and mentor new learners. Many past learners contributed scholarships as a gift to new people starting storytelling who want to learn and cannot afford. This led to a deeply collaborative culture build on trust and mutual respect that evolved into a village. We named it Kahaani gaon.

Kahaani Gaon now supports storytellers with their personal aspirations and storytelling projects. We all have sensed a growing disconnection in the world - disconnection from our own bodies, emotions, relationships, and with the wider society and nature. We think of stories as a way to bring people closer together. This collective enables storytellers to build and grow projects that can serve the world in small ways.
